Type 99 bolt action short rifle manufactured at the Nagoya arsenal in Japan. No series number is present, indicating this example was part of the first batches manufactured at the Nagoya arsenal. Left side of receiver bears the serial number followed by the Nagoya arsenal symbol, with a full chrysanthemum above Kanji characters denoting the model designation stamped over the chamber. Features include a ladder rear sight with anti-aircraft "wings", rear barrel band with provision for a monopod attachment, chrome plated bolt face, as well as a dust cover. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, forward barrel band, bolt, extractor, as well as the safety knob. Firing pin and dust cover are mismatched, with the dust cover appearing to have been arsenal refinished at one point in time. Rifle is accompanied by a bayonet that was produced by an unknown manufacturer under Kokura supervision, as well as a a 20-round box of Norma 7.7x58mm Arisaka ammunition. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting moderate surface oxidation, and areas of thinning and wear showing through to gray and brown patina overall. Chrome lined bore is very bright, exhibiting some spots of pitting and strong rifling throughout. Stock shows scattered marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise fine. Bayonet is very good, with the blade being in-the-white and exhibiting some areas of age related discoloration overall. MLW
