German side by side cape gun made by Imman Meffert of Suhl, Germany, circa the late 19th Century. 27 - 1/2" Twist steel 16 gauge shotgun barrel next to a 10.25 x 69 (.44) caliber steel barrel with front blade sight and rear flip down rifle style sights with extractors and rib stamped "IMMAN MEFFERT SUHL". Game scene engraved, back action, external hammer action with double triggers; front a set for the rifle. Horn underlever and trigger guard. Walnut checkered stock with cheekpiece and steel buttplate. Walnut checkered splinter forearm with flat key barrel escutcheon. CONDITION: Overall fair with metal surfaces having some corrosion and blued parts fading to a silvery patina. Wood has traces of finish with dings and nicks and some slivers missing from forearm. Poor bores with functioning mechanics. A great gun to have restored. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. DLM
