K98 manufactured at the Waffenwerke Brunn arsenal in 1943. Receiver bears an eagle/WaA80 waffenamt over Waffenwerke Brunn's "dou./ 43" manufacturer and date code over the chamber, with an eagle firing proof followed by the serial number on the left. Barrel is stamped "dou" followed by 2 "(Eagle) / WaA80" waffenamts below the wood line. Metal components are blued, with the stock being comprised of laminated wood. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, rear sight assembly, barrel bands, floorplate, as well as on the interior of the stock & handguard. Bolt assembly and floorplate do not match. Rifle is mounted with an unmarked leather sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original factory blued finish, exhibiting some areas of minor wear and thinning showing through to brown patina. Excellent bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits some scattered marks, nicks, impressions from storage and handling, but is otherwise fine. A very nice and attractive World War II Waffenwerke Brunn K98 rifle. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. MLW
