Made 1906, this gun retains its Springfield barrel dated "8-06", under a flaming bomb. Boxed "RA-P" arsenal cartouche on the left side of the wrist. Standard blade front sight, with the rear ladder adjustable to 2,700 yards. Parkerized finish, most likely applied circa World War II. Oil finished straight grip wood stock with no finger groove. Smooth metal butt plate with trapdoor for cleaning kit. Includes attached "1917" dated sling. Maker is not visible. CONDITION: Metal retains 75% of its finish, with general wear and handling marks, mostly on the barrel/bands. Stock has a few handling marks, dents and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted, with strong overall rifling. Mechanically fine, but bolt is stiff. Sling has light wear and crazing. Oxidation is forming on the brass parts. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. JWA
