Kentucky style plain flintlock rifle with repurposed Model 1816 musket lock dated 1821. Built by an unknown gunsmith from an unknown area. Tapered 44" octagonal barrel, .60 caliber smoothbore, with rifle sights. Flint lock made from what appears to be a repurposed musket lock with single trigger control. Full curly maple stock with brass hardware. Finished very plainly like a trade rifle or poor boy. CONDITION: Overall good with barrel fading to a dark plum finish. Stock shows traces of original finish with crack at toe and finish appearing to have been cleaned. Pitted bore with sticky mechanics. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. DLM
