Lot consists of: (A) American World War I Liberty Loan poster entitled "Every Girl Pulling for Victory" illustrated with the image of a female sailor rowing a boat appropriately named "VICTORY". The bottom of the poster reads "Victory Girls - United War Work Campaign" which is a reference to the coalition of the American Liberty Association, Jewish Welfare Board, Knights of Columbus, the Salvation Army, War Camp Community Service, YMCA, and YWCA. The poster was designed by Edward Penfield in 1918 and his initials "E.P." are marked on the port side of the boat. The poster measures 32 - 1/4" x 26" including the frame. CONDITION: The poster is matted and framed and exhibits wear including folds, creases, and various tears, with a 1" piece missing from the bottom. Colors have faded and poster has yellowed. Overall fair. (B) American WWI Liberty Loan poster featuring the exhortation "BUY ANOTHER JOIN THE YD" on a red and blue background. Footer "Victory Liberty Loan" at the bottom. YD is the insignia for the 26th Infantry Division, which accumulated an impressive combat record during the War. Poster measures 29 - 1/2" x 24 - 1/4" including the frame. CONDITION: The poster is matted and framed and exhibits wear including folds, creases, and small tears. Colors remain vibrant. Overall good.
