Police Positive double action revolver manufactured by Colt in 1916. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT POLICE / POSITIVE." followed by "38", with Colt's address and patent information across the top. Left side of frame bears the intertwined "C" Rampant Colt logo as well as the "VP" proof. Interior of right grip panel is hand-scribed "EARL / DELMER / RIDER". Metal components are blued, with the the frame being mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered hard rubber grips. Muzzle has been period ground and shortened. Revolver is accompanied by a Railway Express Agency brown leather holster stamped "R.E.A./ EXPRESS" on the front and "304 1/2" on the belt loop, as well as later production parts and components including a 4" barrel, spare cylinder with cylinder crane assembly, trigger, hammer, sideplate, safety assembly, safety lever, bolt, mainspring, assorted screws and pins, as well as a pair of contemporary smooth wood grips. CONDITION: Metal components retain traces of their original blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a mixture of gray and brown patina overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting areas of inactive oxidation and retains fair rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered marks from handling and storage as well as some areas of smoothing, but are otherwise fine. Holster shows some scattered marks overall, but is otherwise very good.
