Blued 32 - 5/8" barrel "V / P / (Eagle head)" proofed at breech and chambered for .45-70 with hooded blade front sight and Buffington rear. Case hardened breech block marked "US / MODEL / 1884". Blued lock plate marked with federal eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" ahead of hammer. Plain 1-piece walnut military style stock with crisp script "SWP / 1889" cartouche and blued iron mountings including 2-spring retained bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Excellent. Unissued condition retaining nearly all of its original finishes with some fading to case colors on the breech block and some minor losses on butt plate. Stock is near excellent with a few marks. Very fine bright bore displaying crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. BAS
