Manufactured circa 1873 from left over percussion parts and purpose built barrels. This example is one of approximately 6,000 made with a 3 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .38 rimfire with 2-line Hartford address. Cone front sight and hammer notch rear. Rebated 5-shot cylinder rollmarked with stagecoach holdup scene. Frame marked on left with 2-line "PAT. JULY, 25, 1871. / PAT. JULY, 2, 1872" marking. Nickel finish throughout with case hardened rimfire hammer and nitre blued small parts. Brass straps and trigger guard bearing "36 CAL" marking and fit with smooth walnut 1-piece grips. CONDITION: Very fine. The vast majority of the factory applied finishes are retained with some evidence of cleaned oxidation on the barrel. Traces of silver plate are retained on the grip straps, with the balance a bright patina. Grips have some period impressions and wear. Markings remain crisp. Excellent bore and mechanics. Visible serial numbers match. BAS
