The grandfather to the much more commonly known vz.27, the vz.22 saw a very short production life, with only approximately 19,000 pistols manufactured before being succeeded by the vz.24. This example is stamped "9.mm.N." above "Cs.st.zbrojovka, Brno." on the left side of the frame. Left side of trigger guard web exhibits what appears to be a lightly stamped "S" followed by a Czech rampant lion acceptance proof and "6", with the right side bearing a "v." stamp. Front grip strap is stamped "11D266". Major metal components are blued, while some smaller components are strawed. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece checkered wood wraparound grip. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown pin, sideplate, trigger, slide, barrel bushing, barrel retainer, and barrel. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear overall showing through to gray patina, as well as some small scattered spots of cleaned oxidation. Strawed components retain fair amounts of their arsenal finish, exhibiting wear overall. Bore is excellent, exhibiting some very light surface oxidation and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grip shows smoothing to the checkering and a small crack on the left side, but is otherwise fine. MLW
