Circa 1944 American League Ball signed by Claire Lee Chennault, the notable American aviator, general, and military aviator best known for his leadership of the "Flying Tigers" and the Chinese Air Force during World War II. The ball is marked "American League Ball / William Harridge Pres". William Harridge was the President of the American League from 1931–1959, a time in American history when both men and women dominated the league. It was not uncommon for figures such as Claire Chennault to sign baseballs during wartime games, as they would be honored as esteemed guests at the ballpark. The signature is located between the seams and reads "C.L. Chennault". CONDITION: The ball has browned and exhibits scattered scuffs and blemishes. Markings as well as signature exhibit fading. Seams remain tight. A nice ball signed by a significant American figure. Overall good.
