Unusual in its design, Fiala Arm's Model 1920 pistol carbine looks to be a standard semi-automatic pistol closely resembling Colt's Woodman, but is actually a magazine-fed single shot design. Only approximately 5,000 examples were produced under several different names before production end. This example is stamped "FIALA ARMS" over the company's trademark polar bear logo on the left side of the frame, with the right side of the bearing stampings stipulating the manufacturer information and model designation. Metal components have been reblued at one point in time and the frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Frame is currently fitted with a 20" barrel with an integral smooth wood forearm, as well as a detachable buttstock. Pistol is accompanied by its matching 3" and matching 7 - 1/2" barrels. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of pitting beneath the finish overall. Barrels all retain mirror bores, with well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some scattered marks from handling and storage, with some chipping and minor losses present around the edges. Stock shows some minor handling marks and impressions, but is otherwise fine. An attractive ensemble for an unusual pistol design.
