DSP. Exceedingly rare and outstanding C. 1940's Porcelain Service Station Sign for Frontier "Rarin' To Go" Gasoline showing an excellent "Golden Rider" graphic with unique script. A product of Frontier Oil Company, Denver, Colorado. CONDITION: Side one is in excellent condition overall showing brilliant color & gloss throughout with an outstanding condition graphic. Side one shows two BB type touch ups at the graphic with the remaining inner field showing no touch ups or notable wear. Side one shows an outstanding condition outer field as well with heavy shelving between each color and only minimal surface scratch. Side one shows heavier touch up in the outer black banded edge with the majority of the touch up above the "FRO" of Frontier. The outer border shows approximately six areas of touch up with most not extending into the red porcelain, Grade 8.75+. Side two also shows brilliant color & gloss throughout showing excellent Gold Rider graphic in the center. Side two shows two BB type chips just above the Horse's head as well as a 2" round touch up in the Riders leg. The remaining inner field is brilliant showing no notable wear. Side two shows outstanding condition script along the outer field showing one small chip near the "F" of Frontier. The outer black banded border shows heavier touch up above the "ER" of Frontier as well as four areas of touch up along the outer border, most of which do not extend into the red porcelain, Grade 8.5+. Sign is mounted in a new metal ring which is painted in matching red and displays with the piece nicely. An absolutely incredible displaying example of this iconic piece of Service Station Signage, and one of the finest known examples to remain.
