Circa early 20th century British Royal Artillery Lieutenant Colonel's mess dress uniform consisting of the jacket, vest, and trousers. The jacket is constructed of fine dark blue wool and lined with quilted red silk. The vest is of red silk while the trousers are in matching construction to the jacket. The jacket features bullion lieutenant colonel rank on each epaulette with bullion Royal Artillery insignia sewn to the lapels. There is a loop on the left lapel which would accommodate award miniatures. The vest features Royal Artillery buttons that are marked "EXTRA QUALITY" on the reverse while the trousers feature plastic buttons which are marked "PULFORD 65 ST. JAMES ST S.W.". The jacket and vest are named on a piece of cloth which is stitched inside the high collar. The ink writing appears to read "Capt. JFRN...(Illegible)". Unlike the rest of the uniform, the trousers do not appear to be named. CONDITION: The uniform is very clean overall with no evidence of major mothing. Trousers exhibit tarnishing around the waistline and on the pantleg. White vest lining exhibits browning. All original buttons are present. A very presentable set. Overall very good.
