Manufactured 1944. Serrated slope front sight, square notch flat top rear sight, with "P" proof visible in front on rear sight. Left side of slide with "REMINGTON RAND INC / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.". Barrel with "P" proof on left lug, "HS" on right, hood polished. Top of frame with "G" proof near disconnector hole. Left side of frame with "FJA" proof for Atwood, "P" proof under magazine release, "2" proof on left side of trigger guard. Right side of frame with "UNITED STATES PORPERTY / NO. 1959223" behind slide lock hole, "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" ahead of hole. Crossed cannon cartouche at rear of frame. Right side of trigger guard with "0" and "V" proofs. Small parts comprise narrow checkered hammer, serrated slide release, checkered thick tab safety, short stamped trigger, long 1911A1 grip safety, arched serrated mainspring housing. Keyes fibre grips with reinforcing rings. Magazine devoid of markings. In a contemporary paperboard box with item code numbers for 1 1911A1 and 2 magazines, serial number ink stamped. Contents are a modern pullthrough and a wrapped piece of wood that emulates a wrapped magazine. CONDITION: Overall very good, detaining virtually all of the parkerized finish, with some light handling marks, most obvious a takedown mark. Some light silvering to muzzle and dust cover consistent with holster wear. Slide legends have been enhanced with white infill that is turning off-white. Visible burnishing in some stamps. Some silvering to high edges and reciprocating areas. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with some mild frosting to edges of lands. Box fine as contemporary. EMW
