US Army 1903 Mk I Rifle with receiver built in 1919. Barrel is stamped "SA" and dated 10-44, making this a typical WWII rebuild of an original 1919 Model 1903 rifle cut for the Pedersen device. Metal as been reparkerized. Rear sight is the standard World War II sight graduated to 2800 yards. All milled parts. Unmarked swept back bolt. Original WWI stock with inspector stamp on left side "DAL" along with a rebuild stamp, for Daniel A. Leary, whose stamp can be found on 1903 rifles manufactured from World War I into the 1930s. Has two "P" stamps on the wrist. The early cursive "P" and the later block "P" with no serifs. CONDITION: The majority arsenal refinish is good. Wood is very good to excellent with usual dings. Someone has pencil etched a serial number 61786 on the bolt. TE reading: 2. ME reading: 1. Crisp mechanics. A nice example of a scarce rifle rebuilt for use in the second war. DLM
