Katanamei signed Echizen Ju Shimsaka Kunihiro; Enpo period, ref. Hawley 239. Measures 17 - 3/4" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Classic shinogi zukuri form. Hada obscured by state of polish, hamon looks to be notare. Ubu nakago with kengyo nakagojiri, single mekugi-ana. Steep iori mune. Housed in a leather wrapped saya with single crudely manufactured hanger. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with areas of attempted polishing, mossing, and handling marks. Ha has several nicks, deepest approximately 1mm deep; mono-uchi with more chipping than balance. Mounts with distress and rubbing from age, but have clearly been present for some time. EMW
