1 of only approximately 213 "Baby" Lugers fabricated by John Martz, with this example originally manufactured as a Model 1906 American Eagle Luger, before being masterfully crafted into a Model 1906 American Eagle "Baby" Luger. The receiver bears the American Eagle coat of arms over the chamber, with the intertwined "DWM" monogram present on the toggle. "(Crown) / N" commercial nitro proof is present on the left side of the breechblock. Martz's signature encircled "JVM" and "6 0-5" stamps are present on the left side of the frame beneath the sideplate. The frame has been masterfully shortened at the grip, exhibiting only a faint line on the exterior at the center of the front grip strap, with a more discernible line present on the interior of the rear magazine well. Tapered barrel has been shortened to 3 - 1/8". Major metal components are polished in-the-white, while smaller components including the takedown lever, trigger, magazine release button, as well as the safety lever are strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth walnut grips. Pistol is accompanied by a custom John Martz produced stand that houses the pistol's magazine and loading tool. CONDITION: Excellent, as professionally converted and refinished, with in-the-white components retaining a lustrous polish, exhibiting some spots of hardened grease overall, as well as some areas of original bluing in internal areas. Sideplate shows a mark from handling and storage, but is otherwise fine. Strawed components are en suite, with the safety lever, exhibiting some wear through to silvering at the bottom. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips are excellent overall. Stand exhibits very light surface oxidation on metal components, while the wood exhibits a repaired crack on the left side. An extremely attractive and exceptionally well made custom Model 1906 American Eagle "Baby" Luger, showcasing John Martz' master craftsmanship. MLW
