DSP. Sign is maker-marked Ingram Richardson. A very scarce piece of c. 1920's porcelain signage from Shell Motor Oils showing iconic Shell colors. CONDITION: Side one shows excellent color & gloss throughout the field showing three areas of light chipping in the outer field as well as some very minimal surface scratch. Side one also shows heavier chipping along the flange edge. Side two also shows excellent color & gloss throughout the field with five smaller sized chips in the outer field as well as some light age spider-webbing in the porcelain. Side two shows heavy porcelain loss at the flange edge but does not distract from the excellent Shell graphic. The flange portion shows heavy chipping, but is not overly distracting and overall the piece displays very well. A scarce and early piece of Shell Motor Oil porcelain signage.
