Very nice example of a World War II deceleration parachute for the Waco CG-4A glider, which was the most widely used American military glider of World War II. These parachutes were designed to attach to the tail of the glider to slow its decent when landing. This example remains sealed in its original box and has never been removed from its packaging. The packaging is marked with the drawing number "44G5495" and is dated "5-29-45". The parachute was manufactured by the American Lady Corset Company of Detroit, Michigan and the box is stamped with shipping markings to "Ford Motor Car Co. Mountain, Mich". CONDITION: The paper wrapping exhibits tarnishing, creasing, and rips along with various other blemishes from sitting in storage. The original tape is present but is no longer sticky. The cardboard box appears to be in good condition and the paper wrapping has not been removed in order to prevent damage. About half of the label remains, enough to read important parts of information including manufacturer and date. Overall good.
