US Model 1861 Special Contract percussion rifle musket made by Lamson, Goodnow, and Yale dated 1863 on lock. 40" round rifled barrel in .58 caliber with blade front sight. VP proof mark on left barrel flat above woodline. 1-piece walnut stock with iron mountings and US marked buttplate. Left flat of stock opposite lock bears EKJ cartouche. CONDITION: Good, with barrel polished to a gray-brown patina with heavy burnout-related freckling near bolster. Barrel date is illegible. Rear sight is not present. Bore has been drilled out to approximately .65 caliber. Stock is very good with cartouche legible and handling marks but no major cracks. Ramrod is not present. Action needs attention as hammer no longer has spring tension, but does hold on both half and full cock. Bore is dark with no visible rifling.
