Untouched example of a Regulation 1861 cartridge box with belt plate. The cartridge box is in standard Regulation 1861 configuration with sewn latch tab and buckles. The belt loops are reinforced with rivets. Complete with cartridge tins, which are covered by the inner flap which retains 1 of its 2 leather "ears". The implement pouch is also present. The leather thong is present on the box plate. No visible maker's mark. CONDITION: 1 tab buckle is missing. The flap and latch tab exhibit significant cracking. There is also cracking throughout the construction of the box under the flap. The back remains smooth. Despite the cracking, the box remains pliable. The belt plate exhibits a pleasant, dark patina. A good example of Civil War infantry field gear. Overall good.
