DSP. A scarce & highly sought after C. 1920's Porcelain Service Station Sign from Red Hat Gasoline & Motor Oils. Sign features unique Red Hat script as well as iconic Top Hat & Thunderbird graphics. CONDITION: Side one is overall very good showing excellent color & gloss throughout the field. Side one shows two pencil eraser sized chips in the center with one in the hat graphic and one in the outer white. Side one shows four areas of touch up at two, four, eight and ten o'clock where the sign shows four small nail holes three of which have been filled. The top two mounting holes show touch up as well with the outer black porcelain showing scratching and light edge chipping, Grade 8.25+. Side two also displays very well showing very good color & gloss throughout with one small touch up in the Hat graphic as well as some heavier surface scratching throughout the field. Side two also shows three areas of outer field touch ups in the lettering around the black outer ring at the top two mounting holes have been touched up nicely as well. The outer edge of side two shows some minor chipping and touch up but overall displays nicely, Grade 8.0. A very scarce example of Red Hat Porcelain Signage and a very tough to find piece in high grade.
