US M1861 percussion rifled musket produced by Savage Revolving Fire Arms Company in 1863. 40" round rifled barrel in .58 caliber with M1858 2-leaf rear sight and regulation blade front. Marked "V / P / (Eagle's Head)" on left barrel flat and dated 1864 near breech. Marked with "N.J" state of New Jersey ownership markings on left barrel flat and left stock flat opposite lock. Lock is dated 1863. 1-piece walnut stock in 3 barrel band musket configuration with iron mountings and US marked military buttplate. CONDITION: Good, with iron assemblies turned a freckled brown patina. Stock is very good with areas of heavy handling marks throughout. Aftermarket engraved with a pen knife "FU" on left and right sides of stock. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with well worn 3 groove rifling.
