Lot consists of: (A) M1840 “Wristbreaker” heavy cavalry saber. Standard configuration with curved blade, single fuller, and square backed heavy blade. Brass guard and pommel with cone shaped wood grip. Marked “W. Clauberg / Solingen” on the ricasso. CONDITION: Blade exhibits pitting, spotting, and areas of light surface rust. Guard has darkened, grip is missing almost all of the leather wrap and wood is smooth. Overall fair. (B) M1872 Staff & Field officer’s sword. Standard configuration with spearpoint blade that is nicely etched and decorated with foliate and patriotic motifs. Ricasso is stamped with Abraham Kuller zu Wald bear proof. Brass crossguard with folding counterguard and sharkskin wrapped wood grip with twisted brass wire. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is bright with unmolested decorations. Folding counterguard is functional. Grip exhibits areas of loss. Overall very good. (C) Ames M1840 NCO sword properly marked with Ames scroll proof on ricasso. CONDITION: Blade exhibits a chocolate patina with obvious edge wear. Brass hilt has darkened with age. Overall fair. (D) Unmarked private purchase M1840 NCO sword. CONDITION: Blade exhibits areas of spotting with 2-tone polishing noticed. Hilt exhibits scattered blemishes. Overall good. 500 - 1,000
