Lot consists of 10 pay receipts: (A) December 1776 to Phillip Dean B) March 1781 engraved certificate filled out for Patrick Duffy, 1st Pennsylvania Artillery. 3d Lt. Proctor’s Battn. Oct 1776, 1st Lt. 4th Cont. Art. 1777; Capt. Feb. 1778, Dismissed Oct. 1781. (C) April 1784 Samuel Nightingale, fifer 11th PA. (D) June 1777 from William Mullen, Capt. Bowie’s company, captured on Long Island acknowledging receipt of assistance from town of Newburyport. (E) July 1776 from McMullin as above. (F) May 1777 Capt. Alexander Patterson 12th PA acknowledges payment to him for payments he had men to 4 men who later deserted. (G) July 1778 from Lieutenant in 2d PA, laid down on paper. (H) clipped signature Capt. John Stotesbury 6th PA, WIA Brandywine, later POW, exchanged, served to June 1783, laid down on paper. (I) Undated, from Lt. Gabriel Peterson, 2d PA. Served to June 1783, laid down on paper. (J) July 1776 receipt of powder and cartridges for Province Ship, Floating Battery, and Boats: for 18, 12 and 6 pdr cannons and muskets. Tissue repair reverse. CONDITION: Good, as noted individually. Tissue repair of H obscures part of endorsement dated “4th July 1776.”
