Pair of German flintlock pistols no doubt made as a pair, with gilt brass florals inlaid into barrels, stars over breeches. Brass blade front sights, notch rear sights on tang. Plain convex banana locks with unbridled pans, double lock bolts, and dogs. Despite having dogs, both locks do posses a half cock notch. Double lock bolts are retained by a brass sideplate. Full length stocks with horn caps, ramrods (probably the originals) retained by a single combination reinforced mouth/ferrule, which appears as 2 pieces but is cast as 1. Plain brass trigger guards with leaf finials. Gentle relief carving around tang, with teardrops behind locks and sideplates. Slightly flared butts with brass buttcaps engraved with an 8-pointed star. Housed in a later case with a gilt heraldric shield in lid engraved with a feather helmet, interior lined with wine colored colored felt, partitioned for accessories comprising a combination bullet mold and sprue cutter, powder flask, and brass oiler. CONDITION: Very good as probably composited. Barrels have been cleaned in the European fashion with even darkness spotted along the barrels. There are only traces of gilt left on the brass inlay. Locks polished, (B) moreso than (A), both with some visible cleaned patination. Stock on (A) with several repairs around lock including a splice repair and a cruder wood repair, both consistent with a mainspring kicking. Both pistols have marks from handling and some impressions throughout, and a crack along left side of stock near forearm caps. Mechanics are soft, bores have a minimum of oxidation with rifling very shallow. Case very good with some handling marks and a crack through shield, which has lost the majority (approximately 60%) of the gilding. Accessories fine as later with some handling marks, sprue cutter has some browning coming through blue.
