Lot consists of: (A) November 1780 document directing George Wray, Commissary to the Royal Artillery, the issuance of artillery stores and equipment from a P. Fraille, Maj Commanding the Royal Artillery Charleston, South Carolina. (B) Nov 19, 1780 document directing George Wray, Commissary to the Royal Artillery, the issuance of artillery stores and equipment from a P. Fraille, Maj Commanding the Royal Artillery Charleston, South Carolina. Detailed are leaders, sponges, wad hooks, staves, tampions, lead, cartridges, handspikes, linstocks, matches, powder, measures, etc. (C) November 1781 order from Maj Fraille, Commander of the Royal Artillery in Charlestown, directing George Wray, Commissary to the Royal Artillery to disperse equipment at his request. to Gunner William Kinsman aboard HMS Savage, provisions of gunpowder. The Savage was involved in an expedition near Washington's Mount Vernon earlier in the year, and was later captured by the sloop-of-war Congress in a hard-fought battle off of Charleston in September 1781. (D) November 1780 directive ordering out the issuance of "His Majesty's stores" powder, shot, Musquets, Cartridges, Hand Spikes, Priming Irons, etc. to the HMS Comet. She was commissioned in 1780 and paid off in 1782. On 23 December 1781 the "bomb-galley" Comet participated in an invasion of Georgia. (E) November 1780 letter from David Gregg, Master the the galley Comet acknowledging the receipt of stores from the Royal Artillery in Charleston. (F) November 1781 letter requesting muskets, bayonets, gunpowder and ammunition from the stores of the Royal Artillery in Charleston. CONDITION Fine with only nominal toning and darkening mostly near the fold lines. BRM.
