Lot consists of 5 items. (A) January 1759 bond to Connecticut of Joseph Spencer of Haddam and James Wadsworth, Junior, of Durham on behalf of Joseph Spencer to act as paymaster “for a certain company of foot souldiers lately viz. in the last campaign against the French possessions in Canada commanded by him the said Joseph Spencer…” CONDITION: Excellent. (B) Pay order to Deputy Pay Master General Mortier for Martin G. Vanbergen for money lent Bradsteet “for his majesty’s service” signed by John Bradstreet at Albany 12 Dec. 1759 CONDITION: Excellent. (C) Another by Bradstreet the same day, location, and reason, payable to Messrs. Benson & Turner merchants. (D) Page from an orderly book July 1762. Reference to Col. Hoare’s regiment and the 77th Regiment. Assignment of working parties, passwords, etc. CONDITION: Very good. (E) Page from orderly book August 1762, orders for court martial, etc. Reference to Col. Hoar. Parole for Aug. 24 is “Good news from the Havanna.” CONDITION: Very good. Jonathan Hoar (Ca.1720-1771) was from Massachusetts, graduated Harvard 1740, at the capture of Louisburg in 1745 and 1758, on the expedition against Niagara 1759. In 1769 was governor of Newfoundland.
