Lot consists of 7 items: (A) March 1781 letter from Jacob Flake in Philadelphia to John Moor regarding the accounts of payments to a wagon master. CONDITION: Good. (B) 1775 note in German. (C) March 1777 pay authorization from the Pennsylvania War Office, signed by “Wm. Moore, Chairman. CONDITION: Good. (D) April 1778 receipt for hauling flour “for the use of my begged” [Brigade] “being in the serves in halling flower from willem tomson Mill to Potsgrove.” Given by Patrick Mettlen Wagon Master. CONDITION: Fair. (E) Receipt from Deputy Commissary Thomas Jones that he received 139 barrels of herring, 66 of pork and 130 of bacon “for use of the Contl. Army” dated June 22, 1777. CONDITION: Excellent. (F) Notice to the militia of Berks County dated at Reading May 9, 1778, that they have received notice for the “4 classes of men in to march at the shortest notice…” and desiring them to ready themselves “with what arms, accoutrements and blankets you can procure…” CONDITION: Excellent. (G) Cobbler’s bill covering October 1773 to August 1775, apparently the account of “Capt. Jorum Plase.” Includes bills for shoes for his wife, son, daughter, costs of mending, etc. CONDITION: Very good.
