Lot consists of 3 Revolutionary War documents related to the 6th Massachusetts. (A) Pay order from Col. Thomas Nixon datelined Milton Hospital, April 1777 to General Heath asking Major Peter Hargood be given 800 dollars to pay each man recruited by him twenty dollars "as a bounty allowed by Congress..." CONDITION: Good. Some soiling. Slight fading. (B) Return of NCOs and privates of Col. Thomas Nixon's company in the 6th Mass Regt from January through December 1780. Lists names, ranks, terms of enlistment, places of abode for some, time spent in service, and remarks on promotion, discharge, etc. Many seem to have been discharged having enlisted for 3 years in 1777. CONDITION: Excellent. (C) "Descriptive list of Col. Thomas Nixon's Company in the 6th Massachusetts Regt Commanded by Col Nixon." List of 4 NCOs and 10 privates, giving age, height, complexion, color of hair and eyes, trade, place of birth, place of residence, when and where enlisted, and by whom. CONDITION: Fair, partially laid down on brown paper. John Nixon was first colonel of the regiment, May 1775 - Aug. 1776, succeeded by brother Thomas. The regiment served at Bunker hill, the New York Campaign, Trenton, and Saratoga.
