Lot consists of 3 items: (A) 2-page list of “interrogatories” to be asked of “all commanders, masters, officers, mariners, and other persons” on board vessels captured by US ships of war or privateers. 32 numbered questions and 2 additional that were to be asked and the responses written down regarding the ship, its cargo, but also passengers, whether any were “secreted away,” etc. Undated. Small paper seal at upper left. CONDITION: Very good. Short separations on folds. Pages separate. (B) October 1804 Port of Marblehead document certifying a 55-gallon cask of wine from “Bourdeaux” was imported into the district by Wm. & Nathl. Hooper. CONDITION: Very good. (C) 1813 5-page document from Gibraltar by officers of brig Eliza out of Philadelphia that had been boarded and detained by British authorities blaming them for losses and damage to the ship, which was carrying flour and rye meal to Cadiz. “Notarial copy of protest” on reverse of last page. CONDITION: Very good.
