December 1778 muster roll of the late Capt. John Winslow's company in the Corps of Artillery in the Service of the United States of America Com by L. Col. Ebenr. Stevens. List of officers at top, followed by sergeants, corporals, bombardiers, gunners, drummer, mattrasses, enlisted mattrosses, with remarks such as "sick" or "on furlow." Summary on reverse with signed oath as to accuracy by captain and lieutenant with "H. Knox / MG Artillery" signature under, "Sworn before me in Camp this 22nd Day of Decemr 1778." Knox (1750-1806) was a trusted advisor to Washington, major general responsible for the artillery, and later Secretary of War. CONDITION: Good. Completely legible on both sides. Small edge losses. Some separation lines on folds with minor losses and some tape repairs. Knox signature very good.
