Dated 1862 with 39" barrel in 24 bore (nominal .577 caliber) with blade front sight. 1-piece plain walnut stock with 3 iron barrel bands, brass nosecap, and brass buttplate. Lock is marked with British crown behind hammer with "TOWER / 1862" ahead of hammer. Left flat of barrel is proofed for both 25 and 24 bore with Birmingham proofs and "C" marking inside of a diamond. CONDITION: Good as rehabilitated with barrel polished back to bright and with significant wear and freckling near bolster consistent with heavy use. Nipple has been flattened into bolster. Stock is good with large repair near wrist and evidence of epoxy repair in lockplate cavity, where stock was reassembled after a break. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark with visible rifling.
