Stylistically, this armor is reminiscent of armor from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It has a mix of both period (circa mid 16th century) and contemporary pieces, but has been carefully assembled to present a good homogenous appearance. The later helmet with visor and plume holder sits on a gorget of 3 lames, also later. Couters and wrist section of gauntlets with good delamination and interiors rough from the hammer; pauldrons of 5 lames, hand guards, and vambraces later. Finger defenses appear to be a mix but leather not removed to check interiors to avoid damage. Breast plate and backplate period. Tassets of 7 lames, some lames replaced. Poleyn of 5 lames, 5 lame greaves, and 6 lame sabatons of later date. On a moulded wood base with blue heraldric shields with golden fleur-de-lis. Included are 2 tapestries, well woven, depicting classical scenes from the Camelot mythos, each measuring approximately 6' x 4', which would compliment the piece well. CONDITION: Overall very good with a wonderful homogenous appearance. Metal is essentially a silvery hue throughout, with some spots of oxidation and delamination throughout. Polishing marks visible from a European style cleaning that does not detract. Mannequin mount is solid, although shoulder T cross could be extended into the pauldrons, tapestries are well woven and tight. A well presenting suit that has a pair of lovely tapestries ready for your corner. EMW
