Attractive small hand-sewn and embroidered Confederate flag with 2 family photos from Missouri. Red body with applied white bordered blue cloth bands with 13 hand embroidered white 5-pointed stars, one at center slightly larger than the others. Flag size would indicate use as a parade flag and is typical of so-called "bible flags" from their later places of preservation and use as book marks though rendered as battle flag rather than national colors. Mounted in old plaster and wood gilt frame. Comes with an 1870s solar enlargement of a young man in civilian clothes and circa 1890 outdoor photo of a woman on porch of a small cottage, but no family names are associated with the lot. CONDITION: Very good. Not examined out of the frame. Small holes left edge of field, top white stripes at left and three small abrasions to field at right. A few pulled threads on the stars. Strong colors.
