Half stock heavy barreled Kentucky style rifle made by Adolph Koppikus of Sacramento, California circa 1850. Rifle is pictured in "California Gunsmiths 1846 - 1900" by Lawrence Shelton on page 151, Plate No. 125. Gun has 33" heavy octagon to round .40 caliber rifled barrel with rifle sights and flat barrel plane with gunsmith made lollipop tang sight. Barrel stamped "KOPPIKUS SAC CITY" and fitted with a patent breech. Back action percussion lock marked "KOPPIKUS" with double set trigger control. Hardwood stock with cheekpiece and iron hardware (including iron Hawken Style toeplate). Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal turning a greyish brown patina with some surface corrosion. Wood has dark oil soaked looking finish with usage marks and dings. Dark but shootable bore with crisp mechanics. DLM
