This fine set includes an American shoulder box measuring 10" x 4" x 2". Wood 20-hole block with black leather exterior. There is a leather pocket on the front that is covered by the rounded flap. Complete with its original linen strap. There is also a fitted leather scabbard with a linen strap and leather frog. The bayonet is an iron socket bayonet of American manufacture. The triangular blade measures about 14 - 1/2". Socket measures 3 - 1/2" with a 7/8" opening. CONDITION: Box shows some scattered flaking, cracking and minor tears. Left side is absent. Wood block shows some losses. Some minor losses on bottom. Strap shows some staining, one side has been reattached. Bayonet retains a heavy brown patina. Scabbard has one stressed area towards tip, some flaking to surface. Strap shows scattered minor fraying to edges and staining. Leather buckle retainer is absent. A very nice grouping. DMG
