A large number of these dragoon pistols were sent to America for use in the Revolutionary War. For another example, see plate 21.PP on pg. 252 of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. This example has a faceted section towards the breech that transitions into round. The flat lockplate has beveled edges. Standard French Model 1733 brass furniture. Walnut stock with incised engraving around barrel tang, lock, sideplate and around ramrod entry ferrule, pinned tin nose band. Complete with a period ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark patina with scattered pitting. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration but does not hold on cock, retains a dark patina with some light pitting. Cock does not hold. Brass mounts retain a very dark mustard patina. Trigger guard finial slightly protrudes. Stock has scattered chips and losses, retains its original surface. American oil cut below lock tang. A very well-used American Revolutionary War dragoon pistol. DMG
