Round barrel with shaved down bead from sight, offset view and proof marks at breech with a "(Star) / W", probably a partially gone barrel maker mark. Right side has an incised cross, meaning unknown. Long flat banana lock marked "WILSON" in center. Swan neck cock, faceted pan, unbridled pan cover, frizzen spring with filed edges. Triple lock bolts with full length sideplate. Hardwood tipped ramrod retained by a single potmetal ferrule and feeding into an unreinforced mouth; ramrod is shattered just below where it feeds into mouth. Plain brass trigger guard with 2 rivets and 1 screw affixing to stock, brass buttcap. CONDITION: Barrel has been polished in the past with polishing marks throughout, scattered mossing, and oxidation in recessed areas, all over a dove grey base. Lock commensurate. Stock with numerous handling marks and impressions, including a chip on front of lock, right side of forearm near muzzle, and split down ramrod channel. Brass has a good untouched deep gold appearance, trigger guard of a later date. Mechanically fine, bore is good. EMW
