Full size gentleman's flintlock pistol made by the famous Twigg family in England. The firm operated under the Twigg name from 1783 to 1813 and this pistol is believed to have been made before 1813 as it is absent the Birmingham proofs. Smoothbore heavy octagon 8 - 1/2" barrel with iron furniture. Lock reads "TWIGG" with "LONDON / TWIGG" on the top of the barrel, with lock having a sliding half-cock safety. The trigger guard, lock, and barrel tang are engraved. CONDITION: Metal is smooth mottled grey overall. The full dark walnut stock is in excellent condition with just a few marks and dings. Strong mechanism that holds full and half cock. BRM.
