Circa 19th century French sword cane with bamboo shaft/scabbard. The sword cane features a triangular shaped blade with single fuller. There are nicely engraved geometric panels which decorate the blade just below the collar. The phrase "honi soit qui mal y pense" (shamed be whoever thinks ill of it) is engraved between the panels on the obverse side. A horn handle tops the cane and connects to a silver washed brass collar with nice stippling. Scabbard/shaft is of bamboo and features a brass ferrule with rubber heel. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a light gray patina with scattered blemishes and freckling. Handle exhibits scattered dents and chips especially on the right side. Scabbard remains sturdy with wear and blemishes where it meets the collar. Brass ferrule exhibits scattered dents.
