Type II configuration with bolster style conversion to percussion. 42" barrel proofed at the breech with a sunken intaglio "P" proof and fit with a 3-position rifle style rear sight. Lock marked at the center with a federal eagle over "US" and vertically at the tail "SPRING / FIELD / 1827". Fit with a full length walnut stock bearing a faint cartouche on the left flat. Standard iron mounts including 3 spring retained barrel bands and "US" buttplate. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel browning has drifted to a rich bronze patina with some pinprick oxidation. Stock has been cleaned, remaining otherwise fine with some light abrasions. Mechanically fine. BAS
