Remington New York State Model rolling block rifle manufactured circa 1871-1873 and used by New York State until the Spanish American War period. 36" barrel in .50-70 Government with blade front sight and flip up ladder rear sight graduated to 1000 yards. 2-piece walnut stock and forearm with iron mountings, sling swivels at front barrel band and trigger guard, 3 barrel bands, and military style buttplate. Stock bears faint HBH cartouche on left wrist and left of stock with "SNY" New York State ownership marking on right wrist. Breechblock and hammer have shield checkering style typically observed with this contract of rifles. Unit marked near buttplate with "5 / B / 10" and marked on buttplate "8 / G / 11". Also marked on right side of stock with "11". Action has locking feature when loading, identical to the Springfield manufactured rolling blocks for the US government. CONDITION: Very good, with iron assemblies turned a speckled light brown patina. Stock is very good as lightly cleaned with cartouches faint and darkness in handled areas. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling.
