Manufactured in late 1884 in standard configuration. Blued 32 - 5/8" barrel chambered in .45-70 with "V / P / (Eagle Head) / P" proofs over the breech, blade front sight, and "R" marked long range rifle sight. Low arch breech block marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873". Stocked in American walnut with sharp "SWP / 1884" cartouche, encircled "P" firing proof, and stamped "23" rack number. Standard iron mounts. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains the vast majority of its brilliant blued finish with some toning. Other components are turning to a brown patina with portions of arsenal applied finish preserved. Stock is especially fine with some minor marks. Strong bright bore with some areas of pitting. Crisp mechanics. BAS
