Model 1812 musket manufactured for the state of Massachusetts by Whitney. 42" barrel in .69 caliber with top mounted bayonet lug and brass blade front sight integral to double strapped front barrel band. 1 piece walnut stock and forearm with 3 total barrel bands, bell sling swivels mounted at middle band and trigger guard, and iron buttplate. "MS" marked on barrel and left stock flat opposite lock denoting Massachusetts ownership. Left flat of stock also bears "SF / V" inspection cartouche in diamond indicating inspection by S. Fuller as mentioned on page 136 of "American Military Shoulder Arms Volume II" by George D. Moller. Serial numbered 12786 between barrel band straps. Converted to percussion circa 1851-1852 at Watertown Arsenal. CONDITION: Good, as heavily cleaned with areas of heavy freckling throughout. Stock is very good as lightly cleaned with markings sharp and repair near lock tail. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark.
