A very attractive example of a Pre-World War I Imperial German Kaiserliche Marine banner. The banner is double sided with one side depicting the Imperial German flag with phrase "With God for Kaiser and Reich!" with nicely embroidered anchors at the lower corners. The other side depicts a German cruiser with the phrase "Always Full Steam Ahead!" The banner was made for the "Navy Veteran's Organization in Recklinghausen" which was founded in 1903 as evidenced by the lower banner. The borders are decorated with large anchors each depicting a different naval motif. The banner is bordered on 3 of its sides by bullion trim. CONDITION: The colors remain vibrant with scattered stains throughout. There are several small tears which do not detract from the display. The largest tear measures approximately 5". The banner is somewhat fragile but would complement an Imperial German display. WEZ
