The Chinese military was known to be very fond of the C96 pistols, manufacturing their own copies in various calibers and at various plants. Present example is a Type II Taku Naval pistol with integral barleycorn front sight. Rear sight, graduated from 50 - 1000 meters, numbered 326 on underside. Matching 511 proofs visible on rear assembly behind rear sight, bolt carrier, magazine floorplate, locking block, and visible internal parts (exception given to hammer pivot, which is numbered "11". Slabside frame, unmarked. Several small Chinese proofs observed throughout, meaning unknown. Ribbed walnut grips, roughly constructed, unnumbered. CONDITION: Retains virtually all of a top quality reconditioning with some handling marks throughout and oxidation visible under the blue. Noticeable thinning near trigger. Grips appear to have been constructed for pistol. Mechanically functional, bore is dark with frosted rifling. EMW
