Lot consists of (A) Type I bolt action rifle manufactured by Italy under contract for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Rifle is devoid of markings with the exception of the serial number on the left side of the barrel shank and several small Italian proofs present on the bolt assembly. Metal components are blued, while the bolt is in-the-white. 2-piece buttstock and upper handguard are comprised of solid wood. CONDITION: Metal components exhibit wear and thinning overall to gray and brown patinas. Bolt exhibits mild pitting and age-related discoloration. Bore is dark and exhibits good rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered handling marks but is otherwise fine. (B) Type I bolt action rifle manufactured by Italy under contract for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Rifle is devoid of markings with the exception of the serial number on the left side of the barrel shank and several small Italian proofs present on the bolt assembly. Metal components are blued, while the bolt is in-the-white. 2-piece buttstock and upper handguard are comprised of solid wood. CONDITION: Very good overall, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their period blue finish, exhibiting some thinning and mild wear showing through to brown patina. Bolt shows areas of age-related discoloration. Excellent bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered handling marks and minor impressions but is otherwise fine.
