German World War II Kriegsmarine cased U-Boat azimuth instrument, which was apparently mounted on top of a U-Boat compass gyro repeater in order to obtain extremely accurate bearings. Device is marked with the Kriegsmarine "Eagle M", "2862", the manufacturer "C. Plath, Hamburg", serial number "2624", and a "FRM5", with a plate indicating five "Blendglaeser" (glare reduction positions) translated as "Headlight Glass, Clear Glass, Yellow Glass, Gray Glass, and Neophan Glass mounted in it's storage box.
